Separate Lives
Separate Lives is a bittersweet study of love, work and marriage in the 21st century.
Through a combination of bad luck and bad communication Richard, 41, and Mel, 38, find themselves sliding inexorably towards the end of a once very happy marriage. Both are spending increasing time apart in jobs neither of them have respect for. Money is a problem, both feel occasionally imprisoned by childcare and the traditional support network - IE Grandma - now has her own interests, digging up the family skeletons and cheerfully spending the inheritance.
Rendered with humour and genuine insight into the problems faced by the new middle-class - working families with dreams and aspirations but very little money - Separate Lives is a cautionary tale about the kind of domestic disaster that could happen to anyone.
